Riley Appointment Today

For those of you who do not know, Braeden has been dealing with "asthma" since he was 4 months old. We started out by taking frequent trips to the ER where they would give him shots of steroids in his leg. The symptoms present at first like a cold and then it goes into the croup and then flairs up the asthma. About 3-4 months later, his pediatrician referred him to Riley Pulmonary. We have been going very regularly due to flair ups and check up appointments. His doctor is getting tired of having to give him oral steroids every three months because as SOON as the weather changes he starts the croup cough and then just keeps getting worse. Today he had a Bronchoscopy done in Riley hospital. They stuck a tube with a camera done his nose, down his throat and into his lungs. He was SO BRAVE!!! :) They said he did better than most big kids! He only cried a little bit at the end. However, they did not find anything abnormal. This is very good of course, but frustrating at the same time. The doctor said he is still hearing wheezing when he listens to him breathe. So....I guess we stay on the same medicine, he said, until next spring and then we will take a look at it again. He said that he didn't want to give him oral steroids anymore because he has had them so much.....wonder what he will do the next time he has a flair up?? Put him in the hospital???? Because the steroids are the only thing that have worked! I am frustrated with this! I think we need to move to Florida or Hawaii (doctor's orders!).
